The Barber Operator course is the full practice of traditional barbering, and deals with both development of skill and theory knowledge.  This course goes beyond the apprentice level, and train students for the state board exam in preparation for barbershop supervision and ownership.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Barber Apprentice course teaches barbering with special emphasis on practical training. This course is taught using a variety of current instructional methods including lectures, demonstrations, visual aids, textbooks, and practice with real clients. Students blend theoretical and practical training on a daily basis.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to teach master barber skills to those that have a Cosmetology license, or at minimum 800 hours in Cosmetology training. Upon completion, you will have the required knowledge and skill to successfully pass the N.Y.S. Barber Operator exam to become a licensed barber.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Concepts of Natural Hairstyling course is designed for the individual who wishes to become a professional Natural Hairstylist. During the course, students will become proficient in the safety and sanitation procedures required to offer various natural hair styling services. The course also teaches students the latest braiding, weaving and locking techniques.

STATE REQUIREMENTS

This course is designed for New York State registered apprentice barbers. You will learn the guidelines, expectations and practical procedures to successfully pass the state board examination. Upon completion, you will be skillfully prepared to take the state exam to become a licensed barber.

COURSE SCHEDULE

Class: Monday, 7:00pm for 6 sessions

(3 HOURS)

STATE REQUIREMENTS

In this course, you will learn the nature of various organisms, their relationship to disease, and how they can be prevented from spreading in the barber shop. 

Successful completion of this course will increase your awareness of BACTERIA, AIDS/HIV, HEPATITIS, and the proper methods of SANITATION and STERILIZATION in the workplace.
